International Internships
Policies
Students interested in pursuing an independently arranged activity abroad for Goucher
credit and/or funding must secure approval from one or both of the following offices,
depending on the activity type:
Goucher will not allow academic credit or funding for your proposed activity unless
you receive the relevant approval(s):
1. Secure OGE Approval:
- Meet with an OGE advisor (required)
- Submit an Independent International Activity Proposal to the Office of Global Education
(your OGE advisor will share the link with you at the advising meeting)
- If the proposal is approved, students may proceed to the next steps
2. Students Seeking Goucher Credit for an Independently Arranged Internship Abroad:
- If you are hoping to use the credit to satisfy a major requirement, check with your
department to determine how many credits are needed (note that 45 work hours = 1 Goucher
credit)
- If you are seeking to satisfy the study abroad requirement through an international
internship, you must earn 4 academic credits and be abroad for a duration of at least
3 consecutive weeks
3. Apply for Funding (if needed):
- OGE funding is not available for independently arranged international internships
